Stephanie (she/her) was born and raised in the Souderton area and returned to the area in 2018 with her husband to raise their school-aged daughter. Stephanie has spent the past 22 years working as a social work clinician, administrator, and consultant. Stephanie received a Bachelor of Science from DeSales University and a Master of Social Work degree from Marywood University. Stephanie is an advocate and community organizer with a passion for disability justice, LGBTQIA youth and their families, community power-building, and the use of peer support and mutual aid as alternatives to traditional models of social service.

Dick (he/him/él) grew up in nearby Bucks County and lived in Spain for several years after graduate school. Dick established his connection to Souderton in the mid-1980s, when he worked for the Indian Valley Opportunity Center and soon moved to Souderton.

He spent 16 years employed by IVOC in daily service to our multicultural community. During that time he also served on boards of directors of ACLAMO, Community Housing Services, and the Souderton Area School District and volunteered with Souderton Boy Scout Troop 461.  

He later became a high school Spanish teacher in Jenkintown where he also co-advised the World Language Honor Society and the Interact Club for volunteer service, and served on the executive board of the Montgomery County Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages (MCATFL).  

Now retired, Dick currently volunteers at Ten Thousand Villages, Generations of Indian Valley, and Indian Valley Public Library. He is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Racial Justice Ministry Team, the Executive Executive Board of Montgomery County PSEA Retired teachers union, and the Executive Board of Montgomery County Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages.

Jane Kerns Spigel, Secretary

Jane Kerns Spigel (she/her) has lived in Lower Salford for 14 years.  She and her husband have two daughters (16 and 12).  She is grateful to be a stay at home mom.  This has allowed her to volunteer her time with many groups including her church, her kids’ schools, girl scouts, community theater  and several charitable and non profit organizations.  She has served on the Board of Directors at DCP Theater and is currently the Family Theater Coordinator. Jane is passionate about ensuring that our shared community remains committed to the values on which it was founded including peace, equality, justice. She believes that it is vital that SASD be an open and accepting environment for all our students, teachers and staff.
